Les Cahiers du Musée Berbère N°1

The colloquium “The Berbers Today in Morocco” was held on May 12, 2012, at the French Institute of Marrakech. This volume brings together the presentations made by the symposium participants, both in their original French and in English translation.

Edited annually, the Cahiers du Musée Berbère brings together never-before-published articles, authored by leading Moroccan and international researchers, related to the history, art history, craftsmanship and ethnology of the Berber people. Adhering to the highest scholarly standards, these informative volumes are useful to both professionals and laymen wishing to expand their knowledge of Amazigh (Berber) culture, whose study was neglected these past decades.

This first volume of the Cahiers du Musée Berbère includes two essays: “The Berbers of Morocco: Who Are They and What Are They?” by Ahmed Skounti and “An Aesthetics of Protection: Berber Art Between Permanence and Prophylaxis” by Salima Naji.
